UBC Student Union Blvd

The planning area for this project included Student Union Boulevard and the adjacent public realm from Wesbrook Mall to the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre. This area is surrounded by diverse uses and destinations, yet it lacks any sense of place and there are numerous transportation and safety issues. This project involved the preparation of a conceptual design for this portion of UBC’s campus, including consultation with interest groups and the university community. A design charrette was held after a thorough site analysis was completed. Diverse design options for the area were produced. The preferred plan was prepared based on consensus-building and evaluation of the options.
