Fishtrap Creek Nature Park

Development in the Fishtrap Creek watershed caused downstream flooding of agricultural lands, resulting in a need for large detention basins. CBA designed a nature-oriented community park around the stormwater basins by realigning the creek and proposed wetlands to form a varied experience with peninsulas, bays and islands. Wetlands, forests and meadows were planted, existing vegetation was protected where possible, and new facilities were added, e.g., walkways, pedestrian bridge, picnic shelter, viewpoints, interpretive signs. Plantings were designed to provide different settings and to enhance habitat for fish and wildlife.  CBA was involved in every phase of this multiple award-winning project.
